Very few hostile encounters on the street justify the use of deadly force. To be versatile in managing the full spectrum of hostile situations, officers need to be proficient in the use of less-lethal alternatives to firearms. To provide officers with effective options, the S2 Institute offers a range of courses in the use of less-lethal weapons systems such as the CRIMPT control tool, baton, and OC spray.

In addition to less-lethal weapons, S2 also provides basic and advanced level training in defensive edged weapons to prepare officers for encounters with knife-carrying subjects and to provide officers with a last resort option to the use of a firearm in deadly force situations.

Most of S2's secondary weapons courses are presented by manufacturer-certified instructors and defensive tactics experts Jay Pace and Tim O'Rourke. CRIMPT courses and edged weapons courses are presented by CRIMPT inventor and internationally- recognized blade instructor Bram Frank.
