Florida Class D Security Officer Licensing Course
UPDATED 09 March 2021 – As of March 15, 2021, S2 will resume conducting Class D security officer licensing programs in our Tampa classroom. Classes will be conducted using COVID-19 safety measures as described further on this page. As an alternative, students may also participate in live Class D courses conducted remotely through our partner, Security Training Group (STG).
The State of Florida requires a total of 40-hours of instruction to obtain a FL Class D security officer license. At the S2 Institute, we offer the 40-hours of Class D security officer training over a 4-day period in the classroom. The program runs Monday through Thursday every week and includes all information required by the State of Florida for initial Class D security officer license applicants.
In addition to lesson instruction, every student is guided through the State application process in a step-by-step manner to ensure that the license application is complete and filled out correctly.
Students passing the final exam are provided proof of completion necessary for submission to the State when they apply for the Class D license. To assist in the application process students may purchase support services (e.g., photo, fingerprints, etc.) as required for application submission to the State. Please see details below.

"I wanted more than just your average Class D License course. After searching online for the top rated schools in Florida, I made the decision to go with the S2 Institute...I highly recommend the S2 Institute to any one who wants a next level experience. I will definitely continue my training with much confidence that it will benefit my career."
"Thanks for your efforts in teaching the Unarmed Basic Security Officer Course last month. I really appreciated your "real" experiences + insights into the profession. These are invaluable as an instructor + the information you gave is crucial to those coming into the private security arena."
"I highly recommend the S2 Institute course to anyone interested in obtaining a class D security license in the state of Florida, and becoming a security officer or private investigator...Thank you for a very enjoyable and educational experience."
"It has been a true honor being a student in the D class. Thank you not only for your instruction and teaching on different important laws and procedures. For giving me knowledge on the pros and cons including dangers of this field, but for also sharing experiences that have impacted your life and others. I believe that I leave here prepared and ready to begin my life as a security officer able and ready to help and protect myself, and others in this field, and look forward to continuing my education."
"My thoughts going into your class were baseline with what you could expect with 40 hours of state mandated training. Boy was I blown away! From our very first moments with you, I could tell our class would be interesting. From the very beginning, you took the class from a bunch of sleep deprived, groggy adults and lifted us up to attentive pupils with instant interaction and communication who were ready to begin learning the coursework."
"Being at the S2 institute was a great choice on my part. Not only were the instructors very knowledgeable, but also they were engaging and kept the entire class upbeat and paying attention. Where I expected someone to simply read information off of a slide for a dreadfully drawn out 40 hours of lecturing memorization and note taking, the instructors kept all the students involved, and were knowledgeable due to practice. I would HIGHLY recommend S2 to anyone interested in getting licensed for D - Class licensing or any course for that matter."
"The curriculum is well put together. The instructors were great to learn from, rivaling in teaching style and knowledge some of the professors I had in college."
"I have a B.A. and an M.S. degree, and in my 6 years of university I never had a professor who was a better instructor than Jack. I was truly sorry when the course was over!"
"I really enjoyed the course. At first I didn't think that I needed a course in security, but realized that I was very very wrong. Thank you for the knowledge."
"Mr. Pace was excellent. Great sense of humor really breaks things up, but when it was time to be serious he made that clear. I look forward to continuing my training with S2."
"The instructor is an excellent teaher with much knowedge and experience and was very willing to share this with his students."

"I have attended many training classes and seminars and I think Jay Pace is an outstanding speaker who was able to keep my interest during the entire time. He was always accesible and readily answered questions."
"The instructors are definately well versed in the arts of security and training. They peaked as much interest in the subject matter as possible and shared their genuine love for their work."
"I had a great time and learned a lot from this course. Jay Pace is an excellent instructor, very well prepaed, and knows what he is talking about. His lectures are easy to understand and remember. He is charasmatic, friendly, and courteous as an expert in the field of security and law enforcement."
