Is the Rumor True…S2 Academic Certificate Programs? |
Yes. We are currently working on a series of new expanded anti-terrorism and public safety courses as accredited certificate programs. The new programs will be accredited through the State of Florida as academic certificate courses. With this new initiative, we are expanding S2's training menu from advanced-level professional development training to include a complete suite of academic education and new career training options.
As part of this project, we have signed on six new instructors and started production on a number of new distance education modules that will be included as part of the new academic certificate programs. Many of these modules will also be offered later in 2007 as stand-alone courses for existing S2 students who do not wish to pursue a full academic certificate.
The first academic certificate program in our production cue, the Anti-Terrorism Professional (ATP) program, is scheduled for completion by January 2008. The new ATP program is designed as a complete distance education curriculum for students pursuing new careers in security management and homeland security.
In the process of developing the new programs, we are maintaining our strict adherence to quality of training that has been the hallmark of S2 Institute courses. Existing S2 students will be happy to know that all of the instructors we have recruited to support the new initiative meet the traditional S2 standard for knowledge, experience, practical insight, and presentation ability.
Parallel with the development of the courses, we are improving our current student administration systems to meet the requirements of State accreditation and student aid. When the new certificate programs go live in 2008, new students will have a range of financial aid options including Sally Mae loans and the ability to utilize Veterans (VA) educational benefits.
