Note: Effective January 1, 2012 new CC license applicants must complete the full 40 hours prior to applying for their license. Those who applied for their license prior to this date, and have not yet completed the 16 hours, will still have 6 months to do so. Our website will be updated soon to reflect these changes.

Florida Private Investigator Intern Training Program: Part 1 (24-Hours - "Course A")

The Florida Private Investigator Intern Training Program, Part 1 (24-hours), is designed to provide Florida Class "CC" License Applicants with a foundation of investigative knowledge and skills in addition to an understanding of Florida statutes and administrative rules relating to private investigations. The lesson modules included in the Florida Private Investigator Intern Training Program Part 1 comply with the lesson and time requirements for Private Investigator Intern training as specified in Florida Chapter 5N-1.140.

Upon successful completion of the 24-hour Part 1 course, the student will be issued a form DACS-16062 (Florida DACS Certificate of Completion) required for submission to the Florida Division of Licensing as part of the application process for a Class “CC” license.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Students that complete the 24-hour Part 1 program and submit their application must complete the remaining 16 hours of training (Part 2) and submit proof of their second examination ("Course B Exam") to the Division of Licensing within 180 days of the date the original application was filed.

Program Admission

Students that wish to enroll in the Florida Private Investigator Intern Training Program, Part 1 must first complete and submit a Career Education Program (CEP) Student Application. Once the Student Application is recieved and approved, Students may enroll in the program.

Examination and Grading

The final exam for this course is administered online as a 100-question multiple-choice test. The number and choice of questions in the exam are specifically selected to coincide with the testing requirements for "Course A" as defined in Florida Chapter 493 and 5N-1.140.

Upon completion of the test, the score is automatically graded and documented in the student's "My Courses" transcript (accessible from the "My Account" page). In accordance with Florida Administrative Rule 5N-1.140*, the student must complete the online test with a passing score of 75 correct answers (75%) or better to receive a Certificate of Training. If the student does not pass the test the first time, the student has one opportunity to re-test.

Upon completion of all graduation requirements, the graduate will receive an S2 Certificate of Training and a form DACS-16062 (Florida DACS Certificate of Completion as required by the Division of Licensing).

* NOTE: It is standard policy for S2 Distance Learning Courses that students complete the Final Examination with a minimum score of 80% or greater. As an exception to policy, this required score is reduced to 75% or more for the Florida Private Investigator Intern Training Program in order to comply with the stated requirements of Florida Administrative Rule 5N-1.140.
