The program runs Monday through Thursday every week and includes all information required by the State of Florida for initial license applicants.

In addition to lesson instruction, every student is walked through the State application process in a step-by-step manner to ensure that the license application is complete and filled out properly. Students passing the final exam will be given proof of completion to provide to the State when they apply for the Class "D" license. To assist in the application process students may purchase the support services required by the State in order to have a complete application. Please see details below.

Student Comments

"I wanted more than just your average Class D License course. After searching online for the top rated schools in Florida, I made the decision to go with the S2 Institute.

They have 3 locations spread out across central Florida giving me a few options for travel. I chose the Orlando location. The class was run by Mike Partain, whom amongst many other trades and talents is an excellent teacher. He keeps you on your toes with witty jokes and engages the class in an open environment. What I liked the most was his ability to use real world scenarios and situations gained from years of duty and experience in the profession.

I highly recommend the S2 Institute to any one who wants a next level experience. I will definitely continue my training with much confidence that it will benefit my career."

"Dear Rob,

"Thanks for your efforts in teaching the Unarmed Basic Security Officer Course last month. I really appreciated your "real" experiences + insights into the profession. These are invaluable as an instructor + the information you gave is crucial to those coming into the private security arena. Thanks for your dedication, integrity and honesty as it pertains to this. I really appreciated the emphasis on doing the right thing at all times. As well as your tips and suggestions regarding procedures, being prepared and also pointing out how situations can be something other than the obvious initial perception.

Again, thanks for all of your efforts!"

- Charles

"I was one of your students in last week's class (Nov 5-8, 2012) in Orlando, and I have to say your training class for FL Class D (unarmed security), was one of the best training programs I have ever attended. Let me add that our class consisted of a great group of students also.

I have been in law enforcement in Pennsylvania for approximately 30 years, starting with the Pennsylvania State Police from which I retired with 22 years service. I am proud to have been a part of that organization, and hold it in high esteem, as it was the first state police in this country, being organized in 1905, and has been a model for other states that have followed. It is also the first and largest organization of its kind in the world to become accredited. After retiring, and working a few other interesting jobs, I returned to law enforcement with the Tioga County Sheriff's Office in Pennsylvania, and after 5 years of being a full-time deputy, I am currently a seasonal part-time deputy.

I felt it necessary to give you a highlight of my background in order to make my point of this letter. Obviously, over the years, I have attended many law enforcement training classes, programs, and update training with a lot of them being high quality important training. I consider your training class to rank right up near the top with with my past training programs. Your training program was informative and interesting, but most of all it was very well taught.

I must admit, that when I signed up for this course, I was a little apprehensive in assuming it was going to be a long drawn out 40 hours. Not true. It turned out to be one of the most enjoyable training courses I have ever had, and it was almost entirely due to your professionalism of instruction. The course contained a lot of important information, and might have been delivered in a slow going manner, involving note taking and memorization of facts and data with testing at the end. Instead you had a very unique delivery of the information that was helpful in absorbing the material in a timely and enjoyable manner of which contributed greatly to the students being able to retain this information, and make passing grades on the tests.

Your dedication to the security industry, manner of teaching, and steadfast desires to "raise it to another level" will contribute greatly to bringing professionalism to the titles of Security Officer and Private Investigator.

I highly recommend the S2institute course to anyone interested in obtaining a class D security license in the state of Florida, and becoming a security officer or private investigator. The cost was very reasonable, and the extra assistance in filling out the application, being fingerprinted, and photographed made this course a 100 percent complete course to meet the requirements for application to the state of Florida for a class D license.

Thank you for a very enjoyable and educational experience."

- C. Simonds

"It has been a true honor being a student in the D class. Thank you not only for your instruction and teaching on different important laws and procedures. For giving me knowledge on the pros and cons including dangers of this field, but for also sharing experiences that have impacted your life and others. I believe that I leave here prepared and ready to begin my life as a security officer able and ready to help and protect myself, and others in this field, and look forward to continuing my education."

- M.C.

"My thoughts going into your class were baseline with what you could expect with 40 hours of state mandated training. Boy was I blown away! From our very first moments with you, I could tell our class would be interesting. From the very beginning, you took the class from a bunch of sleep deprived, groggy adults and lifted us up to attentive pupils with instant interaction and communication who were ready to begin learning the coursework. As you stated, some of us have had previous experience and we could be the ones teaching the class but my mid-day, during our first day, regardless of my experience you had already shown me different ways of thinking which I can only factor into my daily operations. Without jumping the gun, the class was truly amazing! Not only had you connected with a group of random persons but you drew us together and made us think on our feet, made us approach different situations in ways we would not have though of, and to me being most important, you made it fun and enjoyable. Your life experience and knowledge of the field made the class one of the most enjoyable classes I have taken part of, and I have been though many classes in my history where the end could never be seen due to lack of interaction!"

- C. Harding

"Being at the S2 institute was a great choice on my part. Not only were the instructors very knowledgeable, but also they were engaging and kept the entire class upbeat and paying attention. Where I expected someone to simply read information off of a slide for a dreadfully drawn out 40 hours of lecturing memorization and note taking, the instructors kept all the students involved, and were knowledgeable due to practice. I would HIGHLY recommend S2 to anyone interested in getting licensed for D - Class licensing or any course for that matter. I know that I will be returning to get all my certificates and licenses."

- A. Essone

"I took the Class D course on March 25th. Once I was into the first day I knew I had made the right choice of where to take my security officer training. The curriculum is well put together. The instructors were great to learn from, rivaling in teaching style and knowledge some of the professors I had in college. Even the CPR video from Rod Russell was fun and informative.  The instructor made the class sociable with the number of people we had, and made the class interaction a healthy alternative to simply watching PowerPoint slides. "

- C. Pollack

"I want to tell you how wonderful my Class D Training Course was last week, taught by Jack Moyer.  He was articulate, dignified, professional in every way, a fascinating speaker, and I learned more in those 40 hours than I have learned in many semester-long college courses.  I have a B.A. and an M.S. degree, and in my 6 years of university I never had a professor who was a better instructor than Jack.  I was truly sorry when the course was over!  I'd love the opportunity to take another class taught by him."

- S.F.

"I really enjoyed the course. At first I didn't think that I needed a course in security, but realized that I was very very wrong. Thank you for the knowledge."

- T. Weber

"Perfect teacher...100%"

"Mr. Pace was excellent. Great sense of humor really breaks things up, but when it was time to be serious he made that clear. I look forward to continuing my training with S2."

- M. Holt

"The instructor is an excellent teaher with much knowedge and experience and was very willing to share this with his students."

- J. Daughtery, Jr.

"I have attended many training classes and seminars and I think Jay Pace is an outstanding speaker who was able to keep my interest during the entire time. He was always accesible and readily answered questions."

- C.F.

"The instructors are definately well versed in the arts of security and training. They peaked as much interest in the subject matter as possible and shared their genuine love for their work."

- J. T.

"I had a great time and learned a lot from this course. Jay Pace is an excellent instructor, very well prepaed, and knows what he is talking about. His lectures are easy to understand and remember. He is charasmatic, friendly, and courteous as an expert in the field of security and law enforcement."
