Jim Smith is currently a Director of Security & Safety Services at Gannett Fleming. Mr. Smith is responsible for leading cross-functional teams in security planning, project management, and business development efforts. Mr. Smith is an adjunct instructor for S2 Safety and Intelligence Institute.
Mr. Smith has a varied 30+ year security career recently serving as a Supervisory Protective Security Advisor (PSA) in the Department of Homeland Security responsible for the Protective Security Coordination Division (PSCD), Operations Center supporting nationwide operations. He has held positions with HQ's Federal Protective Service, HQ's Department of the Army, HQ's Navy Installations Command, and Naval Facilities Engineering Command. Mr. Smith has worked in private industry as a consultant, solutions architect, and managed security services for a large global data center company. Mr. Smith has performed services in Asia, Europe, Middle East, and the Americas working with various government officials and high-profile clients in corporate, semi-permissible, and hostile environments to develop and implement custom security plans, programs, and systems to mitigate risks and threats to individuals, organizations, and facilities. Mr. Smith began his career in the United States Army.
